Rita attended job corps to gain her licensed practical nursing certification. She remained in her nursing career for 41 years, 31 of those tears at the VA hospital helping vets through their cancer treatments. She retired from her career solely to take care of her ailing brother, Robert and to be a grandmother.

she is survived by her children, Corey and Alicia. her grandchildren, Chytavia, Chyrah, Layla(August), Alaina and David. her siblings, Nathaniel, Calvin, Oscar, Nellie(rose0, and Maurice and many more relatives and friends whose lives she touched. she was preceded in death by Robert, Royetta, Tony and Lavelle Sr.

Rita's greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. she loved spending her time with them. she fought her illness hard to stay in this world to watch them grow. she will be remembered for her strange recipes, her jokes, and that look she liked to give to people. she was a light in this world
