Rita Marie Nellum-Hill, a devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved teacher, passed away on June 29, 2024, at the age of 70. She was born on May 20, 1954, in Chicago, IL, and most recently resided in Glenwood, IL.

Rita's proudest accomplishments revolved around her family. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, and even extended her love to those who were not biologically her own, acting as a bonus mother, grandmother, and godparent to many. Family meant everything to Rita.

Professionally, Rita was a dedicated teacher at John Fiske Elementary School, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of her students. Her passion for education and nurturing others was evident in her career achievements.

Rita was married to Michael Hill for 27 years, sharing a love that brought them both joy and support throughout their lives. They were a true partnership.

She is survived by her daughter Broshon Lesure, along with five stepchildren. Rita also leaves behind her grandchildren Darien Lesure, Kennethia Beckwith, Kenneesha Beckwith, Terri McLemore, and three great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

Rita was one of twelve siblings, and although six of them preceded her in death, she leaves behind eleven loving siblings who will fondly remember her.

Known for her remarkable superwoman-like qualities, Rita was a funny, loving, and adored individual. Her acts of service, whether it was lending a helping hand or cooking delicious meals to ensure everyone was fed, left a lasting impact on those around her.

Rita Marie Nellum-Hill will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her love and kindness will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to witness it.
