Richard “Ricky” Summers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 7, 2024 at the age 73. Ricky was born on April 25, 1951. Ricky was a dedicated family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. He married the love of his life Robin Moore, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Ricky was a proud father to Kristi, Justin and Kurt, and a doting grandfather to 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Ricky had a passion for racing sprint cars, and often shared his love for the hobby with his family and friends. He could normally be seen every weekend down at the Devil’s Bowl race track in Mesquite, TX, usually followed by his son Kurt, who shares the same passion for racing. Ricky is known for his dedication, and his worth ethic was exemplary.
He was called ‘Pop’ by his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending the holidays and family vacations with them. He hoped they would share a love for racing, as he and his own sons did.
Ricky Summers will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him. May he rest in peace.
A celebration of Ricky’s life will be held on June 12, 2024 at 1:30PM at Winnfield Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA with a reception to follow. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their memories of Ricky.
