Richard Eugene Reid, 80, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on January 5, 2026, in the city he called home his entire life.
Born in Jacksonville to Bert and Margaret Reid, Richard was a proud native son. He grew up alongside his siblings, Samuel Reid (deceased) and Lucy Jordan, forming lifelong family bonds rooted in love and loyalty.
Richard graduated from The Bolles School and continued his education at Stetson University. He went on to become a highly respected custom automotive painter — a true master of his craft. Over the course of his career, he owned and operated several businesses, earning a reputation not only for his exceptional skill and attention to detail, but also for his integrity and work ethic. His artistry and entrepreneurial spirit left a lasting mark on the community.
On New Year’s Eve in 1989, Richard met his wife Coral. Their meeting sparked a partnership filled with devotion, laughter, and shared memories. Together they built a life centered around family and faith.
Richard was the proud father of Kelly Earick, Matthew Reid, and Ronald Reid (fiance Renee), and a loving grandfather to RJ and Riley. He cherished his role as “Grandpa” and found great joy in his grandchildren.
An avid hunter and outdoorsman, Richard felt most at peace in nature. He was a devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan and rarely missed a NASCAR race. Known for his laid-back spirit and sharp sense of humor, he had a way of making others feel comfortable and welcome. His easygoing nature and quick wit will be remembered by all who knew him.
Richard’s life was one of craftsmanship, quiet strength, and deep love for family. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the many lives he touched.
Services will be held at Englewood Christian Church, 4316 Barnes Road South, Jacksonville, Florida, on Saturday, February 21 at 10:30 a.m.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
