Richard L. Alvarez

March 29, 1948 - May 23, 2024

Richard L. Alvarez, a beloved member of the Tucson and New Pascua Yaqui community, passed away on May 23, 2024, at the age of 76.

Richard was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He had a passion for gardening, spending countless hours tending to his flowers and plants.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife Maria Alvarez. Together they shared a life filled with love, faith and companionship. Also preceded in death by his parents Miguel and Loretta Alvarez, brothers Isidro, Benito, and Carlos and sister Eva.

He is survived by his daughter Cynthia B. Alvarez and son Javier R. Alvarez, 5 grandchildren, Javier Jr., Angelica, Kassandra, Miguel and Eric, 3 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Lilly and Noah, his sister Carmen Alvarez, and his brothers Jesus Alvarez, and Trinidad Alvarez. Family was of great importance to Richard, and he cherished the time spent with his loved ones.

Richard's impact extended beyond his immediate family, as he touched the lives of others through his strong faith. He was a devout member of St Kateri Parish - Cristo Rey church, where he volunteered as a youth minister for more than 20yrs. Richard's commitment to his beliefs and his willingness to share his wisdom brought comfort and inspiration to those around him.

Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith will be remembered and cherished forever. May he rest in eternal peace.
