Richard John Herman Griswold, beloved son, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 16, 2024, at the age of 67. He was born on April 15, 1956, in Washington, D.C., and most recently resided in Cross, SC.

Richard had a zest for life and a passion for staying fit. His favorite hobby was working out, and he could often be found at the gym, pushing himself to stay healthy and strong. He had a sweet tooth and enjoyed indulging in his favorite treat, ice cream. Richard had a great taste in music, with Led Zeppelin, ZzTop, and Pink Floyd being among his favorite bands and musical artists.

Richard held a special place in his heart for his alma mater, having graduated from Roosevelt High School. He also proudly served in the Air Force as a Security Police Staff Sergeant before retiring. But above all, Richard cherished his time with family and friends. Being surrounded by loved ones brought him immense joy and happiness.

When it came to entertainment, Richard loved anything that could make him laugh. His favorite TV shows were those that could bring a smile to his face. Additionally, he had a love for all sports and enjoyed watching games and matches of various kinds.

Richard was widowed by his beloved spouse, Tamara Griswold. He leaves behind a legacy through his children: Patrick and Karla Byrd, Daniel and Jessica Outen, and Elizabeth Griswold. He was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren and a stepson, Jimmy Lee. Richard impacted the lives of those around him by always bringing laughter with his daily jokes. His sense of humor brightened the days of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Richard John Herman Griswold will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his love of life, dedication to his family, and his ability to bring joy to any gathering. May he rest in peace.
