Richard Duncan Manahan, known affectionately as Rich, was born on January 19, 1955, in New York, NY, and passed away peacefully on August 26, 2024, in Miami, FL. A devoted husband to Eleanor Manahan and cherished father to Christina, Khadine, and Craig, Rich was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life.
An accomplished agriculturist and business owner, Rich dedicated his life to farming and was known for his hard work and ambition. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Manahan Enterprises, where he made a significant impact in the community. Rich’s philosophy of "Where there's life there's hope" guided his endeavors, and he used his success to uplift those around him.
Rich’s love for life was evident in his vibrant personality. He was known for his outgoing nature and infectious humor, always managing to cheer others up. His favorite pastimes included bird hunting, playing tennis and ping pong, and enjoying the beauty of nature on his farm. He had a particular fondness for Jamaican Ackee and saltfish with breadfruit, often sharing meals with family and friends.
Music was another passion in Rich’s life, with his heart often swaying to the tunes of The Stylistics, Luther Vandross, Lionel Richie, and The Carpenters. He loved to unwind by watching his favorite TV shows, such as Bonanza and Walker Texas Ranger, and he relished the thrill of playing and watching sports, particularly tennis, cricket, and soccer.
Rich held Jamaica close to his heart, often referring to it as his favorite place in the world. He took pride in his roots and enjoyed sharing his culture with his family, fostering a deep appreciation for their heritage.
Survived by his beloved wife Eleanor, their children Christina, Craig, and Khadine, and mother Amelia Hall, Rich leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He will be remembered not only for his achievements but for the warmth and joy he brought into the lives of those who knew him. Rich’s spirit will continue to inspire hope and happiness in the hearts of his family and friends.
