Dick was known for his poetic nature and sensitivity, often expressing himself through creative writings, poetry, and the music of his favorite artists, including Dr. Hook, CCR, the Eagles, Enya, and Annie Lennox. He cherished spending time with family and friends, welcoming company with open arms and a warm heart. Dick's love for the simple pleasures in life was evident in his fondness for his mother’s fried chicken and potato salad, as well as anything cooked on the grill—as long as he didn’t have to cook it himself.
A high school football player, Dick took pride in his athletic accomplishments while maintaining a humble spirit. His life was deeply rooted in his faith, as he was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Granite Falls. He lived by the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, always prioritizing the well-being of those around him.
Dick enjoyed watching wildlife, exploring the great outdoors, and indulging in documentary nature shows and classic westerns featuring John Wayne. His thoughtful nature and generous heart allowed him to impact the lives of others profoundly, as he consistently sought to uplift those around him.
His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
