Obituario

Regina Faye (Newson)  Farojoye was born on May 11th,1955 to Charles Newson and Leanna Amanda Newson (Griffin) in Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gregory, sister Ladora, nephew Keyatta Lloyd and sisters-in-law Gwenette and Nahira.

Regina gave her life to Christ and was baptized at New True Vine Missionary Baptist Church and later joined Salem Baptist Church of Chicago. She met Johnson Ola Farojoye in 1995 in Downtown Chicago and started dating. They were later united in marriage on May 22, 1999 and were together for almost 31 years until her passing. "I love my darling wife, and nothing come in between us" - Johnson Farojoye.

Regina embodied the term "A Strong Black Woman." Despite the challenges of being chronically ill, she continued to navigate through life with little trepidation. Everyone who met Regina described her as kindhearted, caring and benevolent. Once she decided that you were family, you were family whether you were related or not and she treated you as such. If she saw you had a need, she did what she could to help even if you didn't ask for help. She sought out opportunities to give to the less fortunate as she felt blessed to be able to do so. She donated money to St. Jude, brought backpacks and school supplies for children in foster care and toys and clothes during Christmas, feed the homeless and hungry during Thanksgiving and Christmas. Since her passing, other have told stories of how she helped them find housing and brought toys and clothing for their children. She truly had a servant's heart. During President Obama's campaign in 2008, she worked diligently to garnish support from the community. She attended fundraisers and encouraged others to exercise their right to vote. In her career, she displayed nothing less than hard work and dedication as an infrastructural engineer and head of the IT department at Mayer Brown. She was valued by her coworkers and supervisors over the years for her knowledge, talent and ingenuity. To her family, she was a guardian, an adviser, a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and trusted friend. We knew we could always count on Regina as she would not hesitate to be there when needed. For her people, she remembered our history, saw our beauty, strength and greatness, and has passed that fervor on to her children and grandchildren. She was a phenomenal human being and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Reverend Dr. Johnson Ola Farojoye, her children, Tiajuana (Terrance), Martins (Oleuwayemisi), Michael (Peace), Johnson, Jr. (Taiwo), Gabriel (Oluwadamilola), Shola (Mojisola), and Roseline, her siblings Crevie (Debra), Joann, Rita, Charles, Gwendolyn and Christopher. Her sister-in-law, Rhonda, stepmother, Toni, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
