“We live with a joyful confidence, yet at the same time we take delight in the thought of leaving our bodies behind to be at home with the Lord. So whether we live or die we make it our life’s passion to live our lives pleasing to him.”
2 Corinthians 5:8-9 TPT
Rebecca Mae Hunsberger, lovingly known as Becca Mae, moved to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 3:13pm on July 4, 2024, at the age of 40. She was born on March 10, 1984, in Mishawaka, IN, where she also spent her entire life.
Rebecca was a kind-hearted individual who enjoyed the simplest of pleasures. Her favorite hobbies included reading, and going to the movies with friends or family. Her favorite food was Mom's home cooking, her Aunt Rita’s home cooking and pizza. She enjoyed listening to Mercy Me, Mandisa and her favorite: Elvis Presley.
Rebecca cherished the time spent with her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by loved ones in the comfort of her home.
Professionally, Rebecca earned a Medical Coding certificate from Ross Medical. She was proud of her 13 years serving customers at Menards, volunteering as a teacher's aide in high school, involvement in the Penn choir and her role as team manager for the Penn High School girl's basketball team. She also found fulfillment in ministering to children through New Creation's VBS and volunteering at her mother's home daycare, Purple Angels.
Rebecca's faith played a significant role in her life. She came to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age and held onto the belief that "God's got me" throughout her journey.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Faith Hunsberger, and her sister, Tina Thompson. She is survived by her brothers and their spouses, Kevin and Ann Hunsberger, Eric and Karen Hunsberger, and Matt and Megan Hunsberger, as well as her brother-in-law, Dewey Thompson. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her loving aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Those who knew Rebecca will always remember the joy she received by spending time with friends and family as well as her requests for taking selfies with the ones she loved. She had a giving spirit and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A memorial service will be held on July 12, 2024 at 4pm at Nfluence Church, 14719 SR-23, Granger, IN 46530. If you would like to send flowers in Rebecca's memory, please send to Nfluence Church. Rebecca’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
We'll plant real trees for you in Rebecca's memory and display your contribution forever.
