Life & Legacy
Rebecca Joan Crawley, a beloved sister, aunt, stepmother, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on December 13, 1945, to the late Hinton Perkins and Anna (Gibbs) Perkins, Rebecca lived a life defined by devotion to her Lord, her country, and her family.
Rebecca was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system, graduating in 1962, and went on to continue her education at Community College. She was a woman of exceptional skill, patriotism, and strong work ethic. For many years, she served as a seamstress at the Quartermaster, proudly handcrafting official uniforms for the United States Military and supporting the servicemen and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. She later demonstrated her business savvy by founding and operating her own business, RJ Crawley Oil Company, and served her local community as a cherished babysitter.
Above all else, Rebecca’s life was anchored by her unwavering faith and her immense heart for her family. She loved going to church, loved telling everyone to believe in God, and constantly encouraged those around her to live right and do right. Though she did not have biological children, she was a true mother figure to many—regularly taking her nieces and nephews to church every Sunday and stepping up to help anyone in any situation. She truly cared for everyone she met.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Crawley; her parents, Hinton and Anna Perkins; her brothers, Henry, Junior, Frankie, and Robert Perkins; and her sisters, Julia Perkins Dizzley, Wally Ann Perkins, her twin sister Thelma Perkins Blaylock, and Margaret Perkins.
Her legacy of love lives on through her surviving family: her step-sons, Shawn Crawley and Jerry Crawley Jr.; her brothers, Michael Perkins, Daniel Perkins, and Jimmy Brown; her sisters, Shelley Perkins, Irene Perkins, Patricia Perkins, and Jacqueline Perkins Miller; her in-laws, Bishop Marvin Blaylock, Francis Perkins, and Claire Perkins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews extended family members, and friends whose lives she touched deeply.
Reflections in Verse
If Tomorrow Never Comes
If tomorrow never comes to be,
Remember all you meant to me.
Do not weep beside my stone,
Or feel that you are left alone.
Look for me in morning light,
And in the quiet stars at night.
Recall the laughter that we shared,
And every moment that we cared.
If tomorrow never brings the sun,
Know my journey here was done.
I walked this path with open arms,
Safe from all the world's alarms.
So carry on and lift your eyes,
Beneath the broad and gentle skies.
I'm in the wind that softly blows,
And every quiet stream that flows.
A Pillar of Faith, The Heart of Our Home
She was the foundation where our family stood,
A life built on faith, devotion, and good.
To nieces and nephews, to sisters and brothers,
She cared for us all with the heart of a mother.
When storms came our way, she was grounded and strong,
The light that reminded us where we belong.
She walked with the Lord and made sure that we knew
To live right by God in all that we do.
Her words were our wisdom, her arms were our home,
Through every hard trial, we were never alone.
She taught us to love, to forgive, and to pray,
And her powerful legacy guides us today.
Though heaven has called our protector above,
We’re bound by her faith and wrapped in her love.
Her voice echoes on in the truths that she gave,
In the hearts of the family she guided and saved.
Rest peaceful in glory, your work here is done,
Your spirit shines bright as the heavenly sun.
We’ll honor your lessons, we’ll stand in your light,
And live as you taught us—with faith, pure and right.
Our Sister, Our Shield
We grew up together, side by side,
Through years of laughter, strength, and pride.
As brothers, we watched her stand so tall,
The steady heart that loved us all.
She was the rock that kept us grounded and strong,
The gentle grace where we belonged.
Through every trial life brought our way,
Her quiet courage led the day.
We shared the quiet moments and the rowdy years,
The warm embrace that chased away our fears.
No matter where the roads of life would bend,
We knew her love was something we could defend.
Though now we have to let her go,
We’ll miss her more than she could know.
Her protective spirit, her beautiful heart,
Will stay with her brothers, though we’re apart.
Rest easy, dear sister, your duty is done,
You’ll shine in our hearts like the morning sun.
We’ll carry your memory, honor your name,
And love you forever, beyond life's frame.
