Raymond had a zest for life and enjoyed various hobbies. He was an avid bowler and roller skater, finding joy in these activities. Raymond cherished the company of his good friends and loved listening to music at the Urban Club in New Jersey. He had a particular fondness for his turkey sandwich from Subway, insisting on only two tomatoes.
As a child, Raymond found solace near the water. He would often run away to be by the ocean and reveled in swimming. Throughout his adult life, he relished taking walks on the beach and collecting sea glass. He spent Saturday mornings at the Ventura Harbor, assisting the fishermen at the weekly fish and seafood market.
Raymond dedicated over 20 years of his professional life as a bellman at the Miramar Sheraton Hotel in Santa Monica. Prior to that, he worked in various capacities, including factory work and construction.
In his downtime, Raymond found relaxation in watching his favorite TV shows, particularly westerns like Bonanza and game shows like Let's Make a Deal. He was an ardent basketball fan, supporting the Lakers and attending nearly every game his grandson, Xavier, played from second grade through high school.
Raymond will be fondly remembered for his punctuality. He was always the first one up in the morning, even as a child. His life motto was, "If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late."
In 1973, Raymond met the love of his life, Helen, at a party. They shared almost 51 years of marriage, with their first date taking place at the Hollywood Hills home of the famous singer, Dionne Warwick. Raymond is survived by his devoted wife, Helen, and their daughter, Felicia Rowe. He is also survived by his former wife, Sharon Jenkins, and their daughter, Erika Rowe, along with her husband Larry Spratley. Raymond's three grandsons, Jordan Williams, Xavier Diaz, and Pierce Rowe, held a special place in his heart. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Ronald Rowe, his sister, Cheryl Harris, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Raymond was not only committed to his family but also to giving back to the community. He volunteered at Food Share, making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
Raymond Allen Rowe will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his punctuality, love for the water, and dedication to his family and community. May he rest in peace.
