Raul "Johnny" Huertas, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on May 21, 2024, at the age of 90. He was born on June 18, 1933, in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, and most recently resided in Sunrise, FL.
Raul, known to many as "Johnny," had a simple and contented life. He found joy in the little things, with his favorite foods being rice and beans. However, nothing brought him more happiness than his family, whom he cherished deeply. His home was his favorite place in the world, where he created countless memories with his loved ones.
A true sports enthusiast, Raul had a passion for baseball. He also enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows, Wapa and MSNBC, and relishing in classic movies. Raul served in the military during the Korean Conflict, showcasing his dedication and commitment to his country.
Raul's life motto was "Handle It!"—a reflection of his resilience and determination in the face of challenges. He was a natural leader and played a significant role as the head of the family. Raul's warm and inviting nature made everyone feel at home, embodying the saying "Mi casa su casa." He left a lasting impact on the lives of those around him, always offering a helping hand and a listening ear.
Raul is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marguerite Huertas. He was devoted to his children, Julia and Kenny Huertas. Grandfather to Tiffany, Kenny, Jordan, Danielle and Philip. Great Grandfather to Liam and Lennox. Raul is also survived by his brother, Efraín, and sisters, Isabel and LuMaria.
Raul Huertas will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts and memories of his family and friends.
