Born Jo Raquel Tejada in Chicago in 1940, Raquel Welch rose to be an international star. Her family moved to California when she was two years old. She later attended La Jolla High School before going to San Diego State University.
She won multiple beauty pageants but her big break came in the film One Million Years B.C. - despite only having a few lines, the image of her in a deer-skin bikini became one of the most sold posters at the time and launched Raquel into her stardom.
She went on to have a career spanning more than half a century -- appearing in over 30 films and 50 television series, and later a career as an entrepreneur.
Raquel died in Feb 2023 from cardiac arrest on at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 82.
