Randy was born November 13, 1953 in Fort Worth, TX to Raymond and Clarice Scott. He grew up in a loving, Christian home with three siblings; Michael, Janie and Susan. Randy graduated from Southwest High School in Fort Worth and continued his education at West Texas State University, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Education. He later attended Tarleton State University where he received a Master’s in Education. Randy adored his wife, Kathy Langford Scott, whom he met during college. They married May 31, 1975 and were blessed with three children; Ryan, Kendall and Kylie.
Randy was a lifelong educator and began his teaching career in Abilene, TX. He joined the family insurance business for a short time and then went back to his passion: teaching. Randy was a teacher and principal in Crowley ISD, Joshua ISD and Fort Worth ISD. His favorite years were as a middle school teacher and administrator. He retired from Applied Learning Academy in Fort Worth ISD in 2013. Randy was beloved by his students and staff. He was a mentor to many of his teachers and students, leading them with patience, love, positivity and selflessness.
Church and faith were always very important to him. Randy was very involved at University Baptist Church for most of his life and also attended Northpointe Baptist church for a short time. He was a Sunday school teacher for adults and youth, a deacon, a youth sponsor for camps and choir tours, a choir member and a faithful servant.
Randy was an avid reader with an extensive library. He loved traveling and enjoyed wine tasting, learning history and collecting books from different places. Randy was a very talented craftsman. He was never one to sit still and always had a project going. Randy loved all types of music, but he was very passionate about musicals.
Randy loved the Lord and adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He was gentle, loving, funny, genuine and full of integrity. Randy is survived by Kathy, his wife of 47 years; son Ryan Scott and wife Emily, daughter Kendall Jones and husband Brad, daughter Kylie Murray and husband Chad; and his six grandchildren, Hannah, Hillary, Hadley, Laurel, Cullen and Cooper. He is also survived by his sisters, Janie Myers and Susan Scott and his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Scott along with many loved nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and many friends. Randy was preceded in death by parents, Raymond and Clarice Scott, brother, Michael Scott, brother-in-law, Richard Myers and nephew, Brendan Scott.
Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 2pm at University Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Joshua Education Foundation, UNT Health Science Center Alzheimer’s Research or University Baptist Church youth and children’s ministries.
