Randy possessed a unique superpower - winning over dogs. He had a remarkable ability to instantly captivate the hearts of any furry friend he encountered. His love for dogs extended to his daughters' pets, who affectionately referred to them as his "Grand-puppies."
One of Randy's greatest passions was cycling, and he often embarked on exhilarating rides with his friends in the Valley Outdoor Association. He took pleasure in planning and leading cycling routes and explored many countries in Europe, reveling in recreational cycling adventures there as well.
Professionally, Randy excelled in sales and had an affinity for anything mechanical. His career spanned various sectors, including cars, marine equipment, power tools, and buses and their parts and lifts. He began his journey in the automotive industry, working alongside his father at a car dealership. Randy's expertise and knowledge extended to marine equipment, power tools, and buses, leaving an indelible mark in those fields.
Randy attended Lakehead University in Ontario, where he pursued a degree in Civil Engineering. He treasured his time there and formed lasting friendships with fellow classmates Bruce Bailie and Bill Woodland.
Randy was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Joan Lackman (nee Kilbank), whom he shared 53 beautiful years of marriage with. Together, they built a loving family and created cherished memories that will forever be treasured.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in his daughters, Heather Esau, Vicki Lackman, and Sandra Lackman, and his adored grandchildren, Morgan Esau and Tara Esau. Randy's warm presence and generous spirit will be deeply missed by his family, who were his pride and joy.
Randy's generosity knew no bounds. Even after he could no longer cycle, he selflessly distributed his gear, accessories, equipment, and jerseys to fellow riders in the community, ensuring that they continued to be enjoyed and put to good use.
Randy's magnetic personality drew him to people from all walks of life. He had an uncanny ability to form connections wherever he went, even encountering a fellow cyclist on the Kettle Valley Railway while heading in opposite directions.
In addition to his love for cycling and dogs, Randy was an active member of the community and was involved in a local outdoor club. He played a significant role in developing cycling routes that are still utilized by his friends today.
