Camping, hiking, traveling to new places, working in the yard, and spending time with his family.
Worked on a fishing vessel in the Bearing Sea in his early years, worked at Clallam Bay Corrections for over 27 years. Loved to tell jokes, sit around a fire, always had a smile on his face. Hated to be late to anything. Worked hard to provide for his family whom he loved dearly and would do anything for. Loved to work outside in his robe and slippers in any kind of weather. Extremely generous and kind man. There was no one quite like Randy.
His family. He loved his wife with his whole heart. Helping others. Sleepovers with the grandchildren. Showering gifts to those he loved. Getting to work early so he could hang out and talk with his work family.
Kalaloch Beach was his favorite place to camp and explore, even as a child, Randy spent many summers there. As an adult, he loved to go many times a year.
Clallam Bay Corrections Center Officer of the year in 2018. Sobriety in 2022. His children and grandchildren.
Forgiveness. He never held grudges. Always loving and caring.
All over the Pacific Northwest. Banff and Jasper National Park. Cruises.

Randy Dale Simonsen, born on July 31, 1967, in Oakland, CA, passed away on September 29, 2024, in Port Angeles, WA. He was a devoted husband to Elisa Simonsen and an adoring father to his blended family, which includes four children: Anthony Simonsen, Desiree Simonsen, Craig Handy, and Emily Tillison. Randy took immense pride in being a grandfather to 16 grandchildren, cherishing sleepovers and showering them with love and gifts.
Randy enjoyed a diverse career, dedicating over 27 years to Clallam Bay Corrections Center, where he was honored as Officer of the Year in 2018. Earlier in life, he worked on a fishing vessel in the Bering Sea, an experience that fueled his adventurous spirit. He loved camping, hiking, and traveling, especially to Kalaloch Beach, where he spent countless summers during his childhood and continued to make memories as an adult.
Randy was known for his kindness, generosity, and infectious smile. He had a unique ability to forgive, never holding grudges and always approaching life with love and care. He loved to tell jokes, gather around a fire, and work outdoors in his robe and slippers, no matter the weather. His commitment to family was unwavering; he worked tirelessly to provide for them and always prioritized their happiness.
In his travels, Randy explored the Pacific Northwest and ventured to places like Banff and Jasper National Park, as well as enjoying cruises. He was a man who valued time with his work family, often arriving early just to share stories and laughter.
Randy is proceeded in death by his father Dale, mother, Susan, brothers Adam and Jason.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, Uncle, and countless friends and extended family. His spirit and joy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
