Randy Allen Ivie, born on January 16, 1967, in Lakewood, Washington, passed away suddenly on November 6, 2024. Randy, affectionately known as "The Driz," in the disc golf world, Randy was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose spirit and passion for life left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughter, Hannah Kohl; his grandson, Benny; his father, Charles Ivie; and his sisters, Christine Aven, Hollie Ivie, and Alicia Ivie, along with numerous family members and friends who cherished him. We find solace in knowing that he is now reunited with his mother, Teddy Jean Ivie, and several close friends who passed away before him.
Randy's life epitomized a celebration of music, sports, and adventure. He possessed an unwavering love for music, with Pearl Jam, Counting Crows, The Cure, Twenty One Pilots, The Nixons, and Rascal Flatts among his favorite artists. His passion for disc golf rendered him a legend within the community, where he dedicated countless hours to playing and connecting with fellow enthusiasts. Additionally, he was dedicated to his work in the dental field as a Dental Surgical Technician, he enjoyed leisurely biking, playing basketball, photography, traveling, and supporting the Seattle Seahawks. At one point, Randy ranked among the top ten Pokémon players in the United States. He adored the pets he owned throughout his life and sure did miss his little green Volkswagen car, "Slymee". His fondness of Seattle, he affectionately referred to as “The 206,” his favorite place in the world held a special place in Randy's heart.
Known for his mischievous boyish grin and silly sense of humor, Randy had an infectious personality that drew people in. He loved deeply and touched the lives of many throughout his journey. His involvement in the PNW disc golf community, the Pearl Jam fan group, and the Rainier Slow Riders showcased his commitment to bringing people together through shared passions.
Randy Ivie's life was his greatest adventure and a testament to living life fully and embracing every moment. His passing has created a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many others whose lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
