Rand Thayne Louk, born on June 18, 1969, in San Diego, California, passed away on August 30, 2024, in La Jolla, California. He was a dedicated business owner, and passionate chef, known for his warmth and humor. Known affectionately as Dad and Pop, Rand was a dedicated father and a beloved figure in his community.

As the owner of Motec Auto Care, Rand built a legacy of hard work and commitment, instilling the same values in his children and those around him.Motec became the reality of this dream in 2019. Those who were a part in building this reality with him would say “He may have been our boss, but we never felt like we worked for him.” Rand’s ability to lead others while still providing a true family-esque service will be greatly missed.  He was also a talented chef, sharing his love for food and cooking with friends and family. Rand’s unwavering support for his loved ones and his compassionate nature left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

Rand’s proudest accomplishments were his three children—Kaitlin, Dillon, and Meagan—who he shared a special bond with, often expressing his love with the words, "To my kids, you are my jewels. I love you." He cherished moments spent with each of his kids; Kaitlin and him enjoyed driving in the car along the coast, sharing a love for Andrea Bocelli, and watching Disney movies, particularly "Beauty and the Beast - Live”. Dillon shared his passion for sports, rooting for the Padres and Chargers together and their passion for cars, including their road trips to Utah. Meagan's love for baseball and cooking brought them closer, and Rand cherished every moment spent with his children and their dogs.

Known best for his sense of humor, Rand had a unique ability to brighten anyone's day with a meme or put a smile on someone’s face with a kind word.. His friends and family will remember him as a compassionate man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand, often going the extra mile to show others how much he cared. He was a thoughtful gift giver and an unwavering support system, and always willing to listen and offer guidance. Rand's strength, joy, and dedication to his loved ones left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. A man of humor, drive, and passion, Rand often reminded his children to "believe in yourself first and never give up on your dreams." He lived by the motto "Semper Fortis," meaning "Always Strong," revealing his resilient spirit. Rand Thayne Louk will be deeply missed, but his love and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. His relationships with those he loved were of utmost importance to him, reflecting his devotion and unconditional love.

He is survived by his Cherished children - Kaitlin Louk, Dillon Louk, and Meagan Louk, loving mother, JoAnn Rippon, and his brother Robb Louk, who will carry on his legacy of love and laughter. Rand Thayne Louk will be deeply missed but will always be remembered for the boundless love he had for those around him. His legacy will live on through the love and memories he created with those around him.
