Rafael Calzada-Herrera, affectionately known as Fay, was born on January 8, 1966, in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico. He passed away on August 29, 2024, in Iowa City, Iowa.
Rafael was a beloved husband to Maria Magdalena Calzada-Casillas and a devoted father to his five children: Lourdes Janett, Rafael Omar, Alejandra, Brenda Saharai, and Nancy Berenize. He was also cherished by his parents, Rafael Calzada-Rameño and Maria Refugio Herrera de Calzada.
Fay was known for his warmth, big heart, and vibrant personality, making him the life of every gathering. His passions included playing soccer with his family, watching Chivas games, and enjoying cookouts at the park. He had a special love for culinary delights, particularly ceviche, albondigas, and fajitas, which he often shared with those he loved.
He leaves behind a legacy of joy, love, and cherished memories, and will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
