. He joined the service during World War II. He was stationed in Denver where he met his future wife Velda Jean (Pilcher) and married in 1944. After serving in the military they returned to Modesto where Raegan eventually started a turkey business with his father. After his two brothers Mervin and Richard “Dick” returned from the service, they joined Raegan in the turkey business and eventually expanded to add a cattle business. During the years the brothers were recognized in the turkey industry with making significant improvements in turkey genetics. They became the largest turkey breeding foundation company in the world.

Raegan Amerine, born on April 10, 1924, in Modesto, California, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2024, in Oakdale, California. A devoted family man, Raegan cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.
During World War II, Raegan served his country and was stationed in Denver, where he met his future wife, Velda Jean Pilcher. They married in 1944 and built a life together rooted in faith and family. Upon returning to Modesto after his military service, Raegan partnered with his father to start a turkey business. His two brothers, Mervin and Richard “Dick,” joined them after their service, and together they transformed the company into the largest turkey breeding foundation in the world, making significant advancements in turkey genetics.
Raegan's life was enriched by his roles as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his two sons, Ron Amerine (Kathleen) and Gary Amerine (Debi), along with ten grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, not to mention four great-great-grandchildren. His family was his pride and joy.
A man of deep faith, Raegan loved God and was actively involved in his community. He served as a Boy Scout leader, helping many youth, including his sons and a grandson, achieve the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout. He also sang in the church choir and led numerous Bible studies, touching the lives of many with his warmth and kindness.
Raegan's genuine care for others made everyone feel loved and important. He will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family and his commitment to uplifting those around him. His legacy will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
