Polly Jane Scott was born November 12, 1899 in Perry County, Alabama into the union of the late Jane Scott and Wilbert Woods. She was preceded in death by both parents and 18 siblings; Eliza, Herman, Edward, Alfred L.D, Delia B, Willis, Andrew, Marian, Barbara, Mildred, James, Milton, Mae, Arthur Jr, Ernest, Sherman, and Leila. She was also proceeded in death by 3 of her children; Gladys, Mary, and Margaret.

Ms Polly Jane, attended Bessemer Public School's where she attended until she graduated high school.

1916, she had her first child; Cleo Rose Ella.

In 1919, She went to college in Atlanta, Georgia that was called Spelman Baptist Seminary before it was changed to Spelman College. She got her degree in Sociology and she later wanted to continue her community work. Her professor was Prof. Florence M Read.

April 12th of 1918, Polly met a man who was a reverend by the name of Albert James Wilburn Tubbs they both had 8 children together; Albert James, Carol(Johnny), Johnnie Mae(Walter), Mary(deceased), Gladys(deceased), Margaret Lee(deceased), Eleanor, and Jacqueline.

On June 30th In 1918, Polly pledged to become an Alpha Kappa Alpha in Washington D.C, and she was a member from 1919-2004 which was 85 years.

Polly was a woman of God who loved to share the gospel with anyone she met. She would attend meetings at different churches and also work with younger people, Caucasian, African American, Hispanic , Indian she loved to teach children about Christ.

In her early years she had the blessing of meeting, Ella Fitzgerald, Betty White, Rosa Parks, Cicely Tyson, Maya Angelou, Clara Ward, Albertina Walker, Sarah Vaughan, Marla Gibbs, Martin Luther King Jr (cousin by marriage) Sidney Poitier, Walt Disney, and her favorite friend/Aka Soror, Ms. Beulah Elizabeth Burke.

Polly hosted the first Woods Family Reunion in Augusta, Georgia where she was the founder of the Family Reunion. Every Year In July The Woods & McLaughlin family had their family reunion's in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

1967, In Selma, Alabama, Grandma Polly had helped a older white lady cross the street, and a white police officer told her she better get her N*gger hands off the "Precious Lady" , even though Ms. Polly was being helpful to help her cross the busy road. So the older white lady said to the officer that "She was trying to take my purse" when Grandma Polly was only trying to help her cross the road.

On March 25, 1981 Polly joined a group of Black women for the Kimberly Courts Housing Project meeting about the Atlanta Child Murders. Polly had the chance to give her input on what should be changed in the Atlanta area to stop the violence in the community.

Polly once told her family that being around her cousin Coretta Scott-King and her cousin Rev E. Randel Osburn an activist and reverend, she often remembers marching with her cousins in Selma, Alabama over the Edmund Pettus Bridge, she once recalled when she was only 65 years old at that time when she once encountered a white racist police officer threatening to take her life and "leave her on the bridge with her colored people". She then talked to her cousin Coretta (Cousin Corey) on what could she possibly do to stop this, and Coretta (Cousin Corey) told her to stay home, and stay safe.

Polly kept that story alive until she left this world.

She worked with the NAACP when she was 19-22 and worked with them until she turned 79-80 years old. Polly Jane worked as a community officer/Advocate for Women Rights. She was a long time member of the NAACP.

November 27, 2004 during the family final gathering she told the family her death was near because of her becoming weak, she prayed all night long on the day of Thanksgiving and the family gathered roses to give to her during her final days.

December 23, 2004, Ms. Polly had wanted to do her final vacation with her daughter Eleanor & granddaughter Augustine . When she visited Disneyland and the Disney Cruise Line in California and she got meet the president of Disney Matt Ouimet and Ms. Marla Gibbs.

December 25,2004 Ms. Polly spent her day giving gifts to children in her community in Macon County, Georgia. That was her final day she had a chance to enjoy something she loved doing

On December 26 2004 in Warner, Robins, Georgia Ms. Polly exited the stage of life into the holy gates of Heaven at the age of 105 years old while having her oldest daughter praying for her at her bedside and also providing her food and daily green tea she loved.

She leaves her children; Raymond Scott (Atlanta, GA), Ruby Scott (Augusta, GA), Evelyn Tubbs (Avondale, GA ) Jackie Tubbs of (Atlanta, GA) , Cleo Scott-Siggers of (Chicago, IL), Carol E Tubbs (New Jersey), Lena Tubbs (Mobile, Alabama), Albert Tubbs Jr (Orlando, FL), Johnnie Mae Tubbs (Avondale, GA). Her last surviving sibling; Vera Jean Scott (Atlanta, GA), 17 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 44 great-great grandchildren, 17 great-great-great grandchildren, 2 surviving Nephews; Ollie Lee Smith Sr, and Le Andren Smith, 3 surviving nieces; Bertha Mae Scott(Willie), Mary Sue Smith and Elizabeth Smith. She will leave her favorite special cousins; Coretta Scott-King, Edythe Scott, Obadiah Leonard Scott Jr, Lyndia McMurray, Darlene Tubbs, Anna Woods, and Leona Scott. A special Great niece; Zelma Adams.

Ms. Polly Jane will even leave her NAACP, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority family, her SCLC leaders who she loved, even her students; Heaveniece Fredrick, Diana Williams, Aniyah Richardson(former Spelman graduate), Anthony Donaldson, Beverly Scales, (former Spelman student) Ramona Washington, and more.

She will be missed by cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, and extended family.
