In Loving Memory…
Lloyd "Peter" Meads
1951-2024
Lloyd Peter Meads has passed away peacefully at May Court hospice in Ottawa, Ontario on June 2nd, 2024 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma and amyloidosis.
Peter’s diagnosis was very complicated with having two different illness, that were both very connected. In the end Peter was in remission of the multiple myeloma and the amyloidosis was what eventually took his life. His battle was nothing short of a fight that he never stopped fighting.
Born in Thessalon, Ontario on June 13 1951. Son of the late Floyd and late Avis Meads nee Wilson. Leaving behind his loving wife Barbara Meads nee Grynol of 51 years. His 2 beautiful children Darin (Nancy) and Kristi. Cherished grandfather (Papa) of Shae, Cody (Tyller), Brianna, Eric, Connor and Carter and will be truly missed by his beautiful great grand daughter.
He leaves his brother Gordon (Sandra). He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His passing is a profound and immense loss to the entire family.
Growing up as the son of a OPP officer Peter moved around many times in his younger years. Finally settling in Kenora, Ontario where he met the love of his life Barbara at a shindig and were inseparable since.
They got married on June 30th, 1973 and shortly thereafter started a family with the addition of Darin and Kristi. After a few career choices Peter ended up at the Kenora airport working for Wilson Aviation. This began a very successful career in Aviation that included a stop in Sudbury, Ontario and then permanently moving the family to Ottawa, Ontario. He spent the next number of years as a respected entrepreneur at the Ottawa airport. Next came the oil sands in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Then finishing off his working years with Lady Dive driving group tours around downtown Ottawa in the double decker and amphi-bus.
Peter adored his family above everything else in life. He cherished every minute he was able to spend with his wife, kids, grandkids and great grand daughter.
The family would like you to thank his many doctors, specialists, nurses, PSW’s, and amazing Volunteers. He received excellent care from Dr. Cipkar and Christine and enjoyed the bonds he made with all the staff at May Court Hospice on Cameron street in Ottawa, Ontario. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to the May Court Hospice.
In keeping with Peter’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of life, it will be held on June 29th, 2024 at the Legion in Orleans. Address: 800 Taylor Creek Dr. From 1pm-4pm. Please feel free to come and go during those times.
