Creating and sharing her love of art. She was never without a creative idea and loved to bring them to life. Many of us served as a canvas for her to color. Penny has ability to make the ordinary extraordinary.
Favorite place in the world
was their Grizzly Bear Den. Here she felt at ease and was truly able to come into herself. With her Grizzly Bear by her side and George at her feet nothing was impossible.
Penny's proudest accomplishments
was her son. Ricky was the centre of her universe and her reason for living. Her eyes would sparkle with the mere mention of his name.
Interesting facts about Penny
Penny loved to find a peaceful place among the trees. Her life at the lake allowed for a never ending camping trip where she could collect everything from feathers to driftwood.
Penny loved nothing more than
Her family. Her never ending love for her son, mom, brother & sister, partner Paul, and their fur baby George; and friends was weaved into every fibre of her being.

Penny Lee Whitford
It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Penny Lee Whitford. She passed away suddenly on the morning of September 30, 2024, with her Grizzly Bear Paul and her fur baby George by her side.
Penny was born in Edmonton on June 29, 1969, to Diane Geiger. She was the oldest of her siblings and took this role earnestly; often being a safe place to fall. Her door was never locked and everyone was welcome.
She obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree and quickly fell in love with the art of tattooing. Her ability to turn ideas into art was her superpower and your skin was her canvas.
She remained in Edmonton, close to her friends and family, for 22 years. It wasn’t until Paul, affectionally known as Grizzly Bear, came into her life that she started dreaming of a quieter life outside the city.
In 2018, Paul whisked Penny away to Ross Haven where they settled into their Grizzly Bear Den and have lived happily ever after.
She leaves behind her partner and soulmate Paul (Grizzly Bear), their fur baby George, her son and her proudest accomplishmment, Ricky Whitford; Mother, Diane Geiger; sister, Tanya ……; brothers Brian & Tyson …….., and numerous extended family and friends.
Penny was a strong independent woman. She was a fierce, loyal, and loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved life and always exuded a powerful presence. No one loved, laughed, or lived harder. She was a phenomenal woman who made this world a better place. Losing her has left a giant hole in our hearts.
