Paul James Johnson Jr., lovingly known as Jimmy, passed away on May 7, 2024, at the age of 65. He was born on August 30, 1958, in Holyoke, MA, before making his home in Benton, LA.
Jimmy had a passion for coaching soccer and track, dedicating his time and expertise to the development of young athletes. He also enjoyed watching sports and wrestling, always cheering for his favorite teams. Fishing, playing bingo, and trying his luck at the slot machines were among his cherished hobbies. When it came to food, catfish, crawfish, and meat pies were his absolute favorites. His love for music spanned across all genres, appreciating the artistry of various bands and musical artists.
A hardworking, loyal, and trustworthy man, Jimmy found joy in his job and took pride in his work. He had a successful career in management and security, working for retail stores, casinos, and even having the privilege of providing security for the legendary Bob Hope.
In his personal life, Jimmy was deeply committed to his family. He adored his wife, Diane Johnson, and cherished the time they spent together. Jimmy was a loving brother to Brenda Modisette, Fern Johnson, Cathy Thompson, and J.J. Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul James Johnson Sr. and Barbara Shepherd, and his brother Thomas Johnson.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jimmy made a positive impact in his community. He dedicated his time as a coach for track and soccer teams, sharing his knowledge and instilling values in young athletes.
Jimmy's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty, and dedication, and will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Huntington High School, the alma mater where Jimmy spent his formative years. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate his life.
