Obituario

Pamela Kay Guy, 66, passed unexpectedly in her sleep on Monday, October 23, 2023 in Charlotte, NC. She was the second oldest of four to mother Marilyn Hubler and father Frank Miller. She was born in Greenville, Ohio. Both parents have passed away prior to her passing. Her Stepfather Zeke Miller and stepbrother Pat Miller were also close family who passed prior to her. Her surviving siblings are Cathy Subler (Tony Subler), Terry Cox (Tracy Cox) and Penny Shimomura (Dale Shimomura).

She is survived by her three children and their significant others, Crystal Alba-Storie (Willie Storie) and their three children Bryson, Zeke and Callyn, Danee’ Skieczius (Brian Skieczius) and their two children Charlotte (Charly) and Chloe and Ryan Guy (Samantha Schwartz).

Pam served in the Army for 23 years before retiring as a Master Sergeant. She went back to school and received her Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Social Work. Upon graduation, she began working at a nonprofit agency, Children’s Home Society, helping children in foster care, adoptions and child welfare services. She dedicated 12 years to helping children in need before retiring.

If you knew Pam, you knew her heart was enormous. She loved everyone and had the ambition to want to make others’ lives better. She especially loved helping children in need.

Her biggest love in life were her kids and her grandchildren and spending time with her siblings. Family was always important to her. She was sad that all of us didn’t live closer so that we could spend more time together doing what we all did best, sitting in a room laughing and talking about memories and life. She was all about traditions because traditions were the glue that held us all together.

Some of our best memories were the holidays we spent with her. She’d make a big deal out of making big Thanksgiving dinners we could never eat everything anyways but everyone was welcome. Decorating a real Christmas tree because the smell was what made it feel like a holiday. Being able to shake the gifts under the tree to guess what we were getting. But the best tradition she had were birthdays. Birthdays were YOUR special day. It was a day that you got to feel incredibly loved. You got to pick where you wanted to eat. No one could be mean to you. And she stuck by that because that’s just who she was.

Saying goodbye is going to be one of the hardest things we do when you have a mom like ours. Our family will not hold services or a funeral as that is not what she wanted. We will be planning a celebration of life with extended family at a later date. We will provide details to family once we have decided.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to either your local nonprofit services to help foster children and families in need or to your local Veteran’s Assistance program to help Veterans in need. Her previous place of employment Children’s Home Society in Charlotte, NC does accept donations. She loved her time there and everyone she worked with and we feel this is something she would have wanted.

Thank you for all your love, prayers and reaching out. We hear you, we see you and we appreciate everyone.

All our love.
