Orville Rashon Eckford
Interment Service
On August 16, 2025, Orville Rashon Eckford’s interment service will be held at the Eckford Ranch in Quanah, Texas. The service will be held at 444 Eckford Drive, Quanah, Texas at 12 noon Central Time.
Some may ask, Why this place? Why did Ray and Djuana choose the Eckford Ranch as their son’s final resting place? This is Rashon’s ancestral home with a history that covers hundreds of years.
In November of 1937, Rashon’s grandfather, Napoleon Eckford, was born in this small Texas town. In August of 1960, Rashon’s father, Ray Eckford, was born in Quanah, Texas. In 1915 Rashon’s great grandfather, who was born in 1835, was buried a short 30 minutes from the Eckford Ranch.
Rashon was also the grandson of world renowned jazz musician Eddie Gale.
The little town of Quanah, Texas was named after Native American Comanche Chief Quanah Parker, who was never conquered in battle.
