Obituary

Onda Lee Greer (née Redman), born on December 30, 1946, in Greenville, Ohio, to Dale and Myrtle Redman, passed away on January 4, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Onda was the mother of three children: Tami (Kip) Flowers, Wendy (Phil) Fugate, and Jeff (Kristian) Clark. She was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Michael (Jessica) Fugate, Joshua (Rebecca) Fugate, Jessica (Ryan) Bugni, Lane (Austin) Simmons, John Flowers, and Rebecca Fugate. Her six great-grandchildren—Maci Grace, Liam, Noah, Jay, Myla Joy, and Remy —were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her four sisters: Judy Smith, Betty Lasher, Anita Thayer, and Rita Lightner; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Onda had a fulfilling career as a registered nurse. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oakland University in 1993 and worked as a cardiac nurse at Huron Valley Hospital before finishing her career at Brain Life Center, where she found great purpose and joy.

Onda lived an active and vibrant life. She was proud of her rock wall climbing adventures with her dear friend Marty MacDonald and cherished hiking the Appalachian Trail with her friend Bert. A talented crafter and avid crocheter, Onda also loved organizing game nights for her friends. She loved the Lord and was very active in her church. Her family meant everything to her—she never missed one of her grandchildren’s high school or college basketball games.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Marty MacDonald and Peter and Mary Harvey for their loving care during Onda’s illness. A memorial service will be held on January 25, 2025, at Grace Chapel, 2515 N Williams Lake Rd., Waterford, MI, at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oakland HOPE (oaklandhope.org). Onda’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
