Olivia Joy Griffin, affectionately known as Liv, was born on February 6, 2004, in Gulfport, MS. She passed away on August 16, 2022, leaving behind a legacy of determination, kindness, and creativity.
Liv most recently resided in Picayune, MS, where she pursued her passion for storytelling. An aspiring filmmaker, she was headed for the University of New Orleans in 2025 to study film, with hopes of one day directing her own movie, after taking a gap year to travel with her boyfriend and family. Her bold and outgoing spirit inspired those around her, and her calm demeanor made her a cherished friend and confidante. She will be remembered as a friend and scholar at Pearl River Central High School, where she she had just graduated in May.
Since the age of 14, Liv shared a special bond with her boyfriend, Oliver Paterson, who stood by her side through the ups and downs of adolescence. She is survived by her devoted parents, Kayla and Dalton, and her older brother, Tyler. Olivia also leaves behind her beloved paternal family, aunt Beatrice (Bennett) LeBlanc and their children Bernard, Louis, Beau, and Landry of Lafayette, LA; aunt Ruby (Julien) Guidry and their children Anna-Grace, Vincent, Levi, and Adrienne of Scott, LA; and uncle Jordan-Daniel "JD" (Caroline) Griffin and their children Dallas and Amelia of Slidell, LA, her maternal uncle Joseph "Joey" Rogers, Jr. of Yazoo City, MS, and her maternal grandparents Joe and Lydia, as well as her paternal grandmother, Donna Griffin.
A devout Baptist, Liv was a beloved member of the First Baptist Church of Gulfport, where she actively participated in her community. She dedicated her time volunteering at the Pearl River County Library of Picayune, reflecting her love for knowledge and service to others.
Liv will be remembered for her unwavering determination, humble nature, and the joy she brought to everyone she met. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew her.
