Olen and Jolean were married for 60 years
Olen Quillen, born on April 17, 1944, in Russellville, Alabama, passed away on October 6, 2024, in Peoria, Arizona. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, known for his dry sense of humor, tough exterior, and quick wit.
Olen was married to his devoted wife, Jolean, for an incredible 60 years. Together, they created a loving family that included their two sons, Shannon "Durch" Quillen (Debbie) and Craig "Shu" Quillen (Colleen White), and four cherished grandchildren: Ashley (Heidi) of Glendale, Zander and Zoe (Debbie) of Prescott, and Paige (Michelle) of Litchfield. Olen was also a proud great-grandfather to Evie, Ruby, and Aubrey (Ashley) of Glendale.
A man of many interests, Olen had a passion for history, which he often shared with those around him. He enjoyed playing the banjo, rattlesnake hunting, and was an avid gun enthusiast. His favorite foods were Chips Ahoy and milk, grits, and the delightful pineapple upside-down cake. Olen was known for his love of old clichés, often expressing humor through sayings like "sexier than socks on a rooster."
Throughout his life, Olen was fiercely loyal to those he cared about. He was always just a phone call away, ready to lend a helping hand, day or night. His spirit and memory will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
We'll plant real trees for you in Olen's memory and display your contribution forever.
