It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Nyla Esme “Pumpkin” Woods, a bright, joyful, and beloved seven-year-old daughter, granddaughter, niece, and cousin, who passed away on October 4, 2025, alongside her grandmother, Nancy “Nan” Lee Woods. They died peacefully in Nancy’s home due to an unfortunate carbon monoxide accident.

Nyla, affectionately called Pumpkin and NyNy by her mother and family, was a vibrant and extraordinary little girl who filled every day with laughter, creativity, and affection. At just seven years old, she had already made an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew her. She was an excellent second-grade student who excelled in every subject, was an advanced reader from an early age, and had an incredible curiosity about the world. She was determined, enthusiastic, and full of passion for the things she loved.

Nyla’s favorite sports were soccer and gymnastics. She recently scored six goals in a single game and proudly earned a spot on the All-Star team this season. She also loved doing gymnastics with her older cousin Ayla and playing games with her cousin Eli. Nyla was fearless, always eager to try new things and take on challenges, except when it came to bugs and critters, which she preferred to admire from afar.

She also loved her IB School Community, where she had wonderful friends and had built special relationships with her teachers. She brought warmth and joy into every classroom, and her teachers often spoke of her kindness, curiosity, and contagious smile.

She is survived by her devoted mother Amanda Woods; grandparents Richard Woods and Jasmine Zuo; great aunts Barbara Sloan and Carole Barrett; aunts Sarah Isen, Shelley Keller, Hannah Campbell, Rachel Reamsbottom, and Jessica Woods; uncles Adam Isen, Chris Campbell, Wesley Reamsbottom, and Mike Keller; and cousins Eli and Ayla Isen, Bethany, Samuel, and Judah Campbell, and Ella and Lilly Reamsbottom.

Nyla was known for her sweetness, humor, and radiant personality. She was hysterically funny, full of life, and always ready to make others laugh. She loved to sing, dance, and dress up, bringing sparkle wherever she went. Her joy was infectious, and her beautiful smile could brighten anyone’s day. Everyone who met Nyla instantly adored her. She had a way of making every person she encountered feel seen, special, and loved.

The relationship between Nyla and her grandmother, Nancy, was one of pure love and mutual adoration. They laughed often and loved spending time together — playing games, reading stories, crafting, having sleepovers, and making special trips for ice cream. Their days were filled with joy, love, and laughter, and their connection brought endless happiness to their family.

Nyla and Nancy will be cremated and rest together, as they were in life, side by side, forever.

Their lives will be honored in a Celebration of Life on Sunday, October 19th, 2025 (details above). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hamilton County Humane Society, an organization that reflects their compassion and love for animals.https://www.hamiltonhumane.com/how-to-help/memorial

The family also urges all loved ones and anyone reading this to check your carbon monoxide detectors and make sure you fully understand how to prevent this type of accident from ever happening. Taking a few moments to ensure your home is safe can save lives.

Nyla will be missed beyond measure. Her love, laughter, and memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

“Seriously, bruh?” — Nyla, with a smile that made everyone laugh.
