Obituary

Nannie, better known as Nancy Ruth Williams, was born July 26, 1944 in Warrenton, North Carolina. She was the 2nd child born to Beatrice and George Williams. Her mother brought her to New York at the age of 9, where she attended PS. 6 and Junior High School 55 in the Bronx. She graduated from Monroe Business School.

By age 33 Nannie was a mother of 3; Cassandra, Ronald, and Patrice. Cassandra and Ronald were born to her first husband, Ronald Pembleton, who she lost in 1970. In 1917 Nannie met Guyotis Davis, and they had a baby girl, Patrice.

Nancy worked and took care of her three children. In 1976 Nannie worked for the New York State Mental Hospital in the Bronx. She served there as a Telephone operator, housekeeper, and Housekeeper Supervisor for 28 years. In 1978 she met her friend, lover and husband, Mr. James Singleton. They both retired and moved to Aberdeen MD. They married August 31st, 2023. From their Union, Nancy acquired two more children, Michelle and Mark. While in Maryland she adopted a daughter, Argane, also known as “Ms. G”

If you knew Nancy, you know that she loved her family. She was the life of the party! She loved the Casinos and playing numbers. A social butterfly, she would take in all without judgement. She had a giving heart and a helping hand. If she had it, you had it. Nancy will be dearly missed by all who crossed her path.  Most of all, she loved the Lord.

She left kind words and best wishes to her family and loved ones. To her children, she wrote, “I love y’all and please keep the family together, we will meet again. God speaks and listens to those who take time to pray.” To her grandchildren and great grandchildren, “you are my world and I love you all.” To her God children, “Be the best you can be, I love you.” She leaves well wishes to her church family, her siters- in- law, Peggy Williams and the departed. Pinky Williams and her sister Rose, “thank you for being in my life, I love each of you.”

Nannie Ruth Singleton leaves this world; a brother, sister-in-law, three biological children, two bonus children, fifteen grandchildren, and thirty-seven great grandchildren.

Nancy you will be missed and loved by all; may you rest in peace with the Lord our heavenly father.  Amen.
