Cecilia (D’Alessandro) Cortese was the wife of Nicholas A. Cortese and the mother of Anthony Cortese, Palma Cortese, Lucille Prawdzik, and Nicholas A. Cortese, Jr. She was also the sister of Mary Earnest, Lucy Rutzke, Laura Ingeme, Helen D’Alessandro, Phillip D’Alessandro, Joseph D’Alessandro, Anthony D’Alessandro, Vincent D’Alessandro, and Rev. Fr. Francis X. D’Alessandro.
Cecilia (D’Alessandro) Cortese was a lifelong parishioner of St. Leonard’s Church and a member of the choir in her youth. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Third Order of St. Francis.
Cecilia (D’Alessandro) Cortese worked for an insurance company and the Massachusetts Department of Public Welfare.
Cecilia (D’Alessandro) Cortese enjoyed singing Italian folk and love songs and religious hymns. She also enjoyed cooking and spending part of her summers in Buzzards Bay.
Cecilia (D’Alessandro) Cortese was described as upbeat, caring, warm, and generous. She treated all of her family and friends as if they were immediate family.
Cecilia (D’Alessandro) Cortese’s life is described as a model for others to emulate. She brought up a family that respected and loved her, served God, and made a difference in the world.
