Mitzi Delores Frith-Bourne, a beacon of love and devotion, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, in Brooklyn, New York, at the age of 90. Born on December 21, 1933, in Georgetown, Guyana, Mitzi was the cherished daughter of the late James & Johanna Frith.
Mitzi’s life was a testament to her resilience and unwavering faith. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Eugene Bourne, with whom she shared a memorable union, solidified by a grand church wedding on January 28, 1995.
Mitzi's legacy continues through her devoted children, Donna Marlene Frith, the late Desiree Allison Frith, and Roxanne Patricia Hunte, and her treasured grandchildren: Latoya Frith-Ducille, Keith Ducille, Toshica, Sonobia, Charles Frith, Ronelle Hunte-Roddy, Gordon Roddy & Rashida Hunte. Her great grandchildren, Moquon, Shemar, Tarique, Mercedes, Matthew, Skye, Ocean, Storm, Charmie, Carter, & Osirius Frith. Her siblings, the late, Agatha Frith-Brusche, Rudolph Frith, Sybil Grannum, and Gloria Hendy. Her nieces and nephews, Colin, Linden, Keith, Faye, Denise, Aubrey Frith; Nicole Hendy-Ford, Adele, Marvin,Victor Hendy, Gala Hendy-Mars, and countless great nieces and great nephews.
Cousins: The Knights, The Lykings, and The Cumberbatches. She will be joining the following in heaven; Adelaid Gumbs, Celestine Knights, Ellen Cumberbatch, Maureen J. Frith-Jacobs, June, Desiree, Carlotta, Sandra, Carol, Trevor & Godfrey Frith.
Mitzi's academic pursuits took her to St. Stephens Scotts School and Broad Street Government School. Her career began at Valax Printing in Georgetown, Guyana, before inspiring the youths as a teacher for 8 years. Later she transitioned into a nurturing role as a Home Health Aide in the United States after migrating to Brooklyn, NY, on October 13, 1981.
Mitzi's interests and talents were as vibrant as her personality. She found joy in sewing, attending church, engaging in heartfelt conversations with loved ones, shopping, and watching her favorite soap operas, "The Young and the Restless" and "General Hospital." Her culinary skills, especially her renowned cross buns, cheese rolls, and dahl puri, were a testament to her love for her family.
Her commitment to her faith was profound. After giving her life to Christ through Baptism on June 16, 1996, she went on to become a mother of the church on July 12, 1997, a reverend on July 7, 2001, and finally a Pastor on July 9, 2005. Mitzi's generosity and unconditional love touched everyone she met, making her a cherished figure within her community.
Mitzi’s family will celebrate her life on June 29, 2024, at Caribe Funeral Home, 1922 Utica Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11234. The visitation will commence at 8 am, followed by the funeral service at 10 am.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and love during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Mitzi Delores Frith-Bourne.
Mitzi's warmth and enduring legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. We invite you to share your memories and celebrate the life of a remarkable woman who has left an indelible mark on us all.
