Michael Louis Cohen, born on May 27, 1948, in Newark, NJ, passed away on September 8, 2024, in West Caldwell, NJ. A dedicated professional and devoted family man, Michael enjoyed a remarkable career that spanned over four decades. He worked for Cohn Reznick Accounting for 44 years, ultimately rising to the position of managing partner. Following his retirement, he shared his expertise as an assistant professor of accounting at Rutgers Business School for 16 years, where he inspired countless students with his knowledge and passion for the subject.
Michael was married to Patrice Daly Cohen for 24 years, and together they created a loving family. He is survived by Patrice; his son Robert Cohen; his daughters Jackie Michalski and husband Mike, and Tracey Meyer and husband Brendan; and his stepdaughters Kyla McDonald and husband Miles, Marisa Love and husband Trey, and Kara Robertiello and husband Mike. He was a proud grandfather of seven grandchildren: James, Jocelyn, McKenna, Cameron, Christian, Teddy, and Isla.
An avid golfer, Michael cherished his time on the golf course and enjoyed visiting the racetrack. He was also passionate about coin collecting and model trains. He found joy in watching his favorite TV show, Seinfeld, and was an enthusiastic supporter of Rutgers football.
Michael was known for his kindness and generosity, which extended beyond his family. He served as the treasurer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, demonstrating his commitment to making a positive impact in the community. He was also a loving dog owner, adored by his pets: Riley, Cody, Nellie, Blake, Murphy, and Lucy.
Michael's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched, both personally and professionally. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know him.
