Mikey was very smart. straight A’s all through High School and he had varied interests that kept him busy. He loved to collect sports Cards.
to sit in the living room with his dad and talk History, Politics and sports when his dad was alive.,
Las Vegas and Reno.

mikey loved his mom’s cat Ariel. he loved all cats. He donated yearly to the ASPCA.
to show his appreciation for the physicians, nurses and health care workers who took such good care of him He loved to buy boxes of chocolate and let them know how much they meant to him.
After mikey’s parents died he needed to be in a community that could take care of him. He had serious health issues and needed a safe place to live. Father Bills was the answer to his prayers. they provided him with health care and a place to call home. He was so grateful to this community that sheltered him and literally was his lifeline. He loved and appreciated his fellow residents and always had kind words for the front desk personnel who ran the program.
Mchael Joseph Meaney, affectionately known as Mikey, passed away on November 6, 2024, in Brockton, Massachusetts. He was born on December 12,1966, in South Boston, MA.
Mikey was the son of the late James and Rosalie Meaney of South Boston. He’s also survived by his sisters, Kathleen Benninger and her husband Michael of Solon OH, Barbi Conley and her late husband Stephen of Braintree MA, Elaine Grassa and her husband Kevin of Milton MA, Lynda Meaney of Weymouth MA, and his brother John of Sterling Hts. MI..
Mikey was a passionate reader, often devouring up to three books a week on his Kindle, and he had a particular fondness for pizza and cooking chicken in his air fryer. A devoted sports fan, he enjoyed watching games and collecting sports cards, showcasing his varied interests and intelligence, reflected in his straight A’s throughout high school.
Mikey found joy in simple pleasures, often reminiscing about the cherished times spent with his father, discussing history, politics, and sports. His favorite destinations were Las Vegas and Reno, where he loved to escape and enjoy life. He was a regular viewer of "Jeopardy," where his sharp mind shone.
Throughout his life, Mikey developed a deep love for animals, especially cats. He adored his mother’s cat, Ariel, and generously supported the ASPCA with yearly donations. His appreciation for the caregivers in his life was profound; he frequently expressed his gratitude by gifting boxes of chocolates to physicians, nurses, and staff who provided him with exceptional care.
After the passing of his parents, Mikey found a supportive community at Father Bill’s, where he received the healthcare he needed. He was grateful for the shelter and fellowship it provided, often expressing his appreciation to the staff and fellow residents. Mikey's generosity and good humor left a lasting impact on those around him, as he never missed a birthday or special occasion, always sending texts
He remained a bachelor throughout his life, dedicating himself to his family and friends.
His room was often adorned with pictures and crosses, reflecting his growing faith nurtured by the supportive environment he found at Father Bill's. Mikey lived life on his own terms, always generous and kind-hearted, leaving a legacy of warmth and love for those who had the privilege to know him.
We’ll be celebrating Mikey in the spring 2025. We’ll gather together when plans are finalized .
