Michael James Kumor, beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away on June 5, 2024, at the age of 49. He was born on April 14, 1975, in Boston, MA, and most recently resided in Manomet, Plymouth, MA.
Michael had a zest for life and was known for his love of camping, watching funny movies, and sharing dad jokes with those around him. He loved going to the flea market and trying to fix and share the unique items he’d fund there. He had a particular fondness for steak tips and the delicious meals cooked by his mom. In his free time, Michael could often be found listening to Metallica and Kiss, his favorite bands.
An individual of great strength and dedication, Michael served in the National Guard for 18 years, including a tour of duty in Afghanistan. His commitment to his country was one of his proudest accomplishments.
Michael's family and friends meant the world to him, and he cherished the time spent with them. Camping at Fourth Cliff was his favorite place in the world, where he would create lasting memories with his loved ones. He also enjoyed watching TV shows like Beavis & Butthead and Ren & Stimpy, and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots football team.
Spawn and Young Frankenstein were among Michael's favorite movies, reflecting his eclectic taste and sense of humor. Professionally, Michael was a skilled carpenter, always dedicated to his craft.
Known for his infectious laughter and ability to make anyone smile, Michael possessed the superpower of bringing joy to others. He had a huge heart and his presence was a light in the lives of those who knew him.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his son, Scott Mosher, his fiancé Kimberly Binsfield and her daughter Madison, his parents Richard Kumor and Marian Murphy (née MacIntosh), brother Austin McKnight and his wife Danielle, sisters Holli Doherty and her husband Patrick, and Laura McKnight and her husband Brian, nephews Dylan Doherty and Tyler Doherty, nieces Breana Loreaux and Riley McKnight. He was predeceased by his brother Andrew McKnight.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held at a later date to honor the memories and legacy he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Tunnels to Towers in Michael's name.
