Michael Ernest Ehritz, affectionately known as Mike, passed away on July 14, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on December 21, 1959, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he moved to California in 1985 and made Torrance his home.

Michael was a devoted father to his daughters, Alyssa (23) and Aimee (20), and cherished every moment spent with them, particularly enjoying a good steak and intense conversations. He gave them endless advise and words of wisdom. He was a loving husband to his wife, Diane. Their shared passions included wine tasting with friends and attending live concerts. A true music aficionado, Michael found great pleasure in the melodies of his favorite bands, including the Grateful Dead, Hot Tuna, and Donna the Buffalo, just to name a few.

In his professional life, Michael was a dedicated Laser Engineer, earning his degree from the Laser Institute of Technology for Education and Research at Camden County College in 1984. He immediately began his career at Hughes Aircraft, where he worked diligently for 35 years, witnessing the company evolve under Raytheon. He was a valued employee and loved by his coworkers. Mike continued his education at California State University, Long Beach and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English-Creative Writing. He aspired to be an English teacher and someday write a novel.

Michael had a remarkable talent for hosting tailgate parties, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and camaraderie while cheering on the Chargers with friends. He made the best margaritas and Tinga tacos in town. He was also known for his gentle spirit, often found napping with his dog Hazel, or relaxing with a book on history or philosophy.

A beautiful celebration of Life was held on August 16th at his favorite watering hole, The Blue Water Grill. His daughter Aimee share her memories of she and Alyssa's life with their loving father, his sister Sharon shared memories of growing up with her big brother and his friends shared hysterical stories of his life growing up and the shenanigans with his friends of 35 years in the South Bay.

Michael is proceeded by his parents Ernest and Jeanette (Cedar) Ehritz. He is survived by his loving wife Diane, his beloved sister Sharon Ehritz, and his cherished daughters Alyssa and Aimee. Michael will be remembered for his sense of humor, his honesty, integrity and commitment to family and friends.
