Michael Anthony Maze, 44, of San Diego, California, passed away on February 28, 2026. Born on January 19, 1982, in San Diego, Michael was a beloved husband, father, son, and friend whose presence could light up any room he entered.

Michael met the love of his life, Martesha, when they were both just eighteen years old, working together at McDonald's. Young and deeply in love, they built a life together over the course of nineteen years, eventually making their first home together and welcoming two beautiful children into the world. Their bond was a testament to devotion, loyalty, and enduring partnership.

Known for his infectious laughter, warm humor, and joyful spirit, Michael had a remarkable gift for making everyone around him feel welcome. He was an amazing person to be around, so full of life and genuine cheer. Michael was a devoted football fan, a proud supporter of his wife and children, and a man who cherished time spent with his family and cousins. He was a faithful member of Greater Life Baptist Church and could always be found on the sideline cheering at every one of his son's games.

Michael is survived by his loving wife, Martesha Maze; his son, Jeremiah Mays; his daughter, Anaya Maze; his mother, Dorothy Lewis; his sisters, Keisha Lewis and Cheier Hall; his uncle, Leroy Lover; his aunt, Michelle Lover; and his cherished cousins, Ma'lek, Brandon Hall, Keona Hall, Aaliyah Sander, and Daizha Brown. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Maze.

A funeral service will be held on March 16 at 2:00 p.m., concluding at the burial site. Leroy Lover and Brandon Hall will serve as honorary pallbearers.

May Michael now rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord. As he would have wanted his family to remember: "We must consciously know that we can use the creative power of the universe for good, and then proceed to do so."
