Michael A. Hatchett, Sr. was born on December 22, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan, to Fred and Jemina “Freda” Hatchett. He was raised in Detroit and later made his home in Lincoln Park, Michigan.
Affectionately known as Mike, he accepted Christ early in life and attended New Calvary Baptist Church, where his faith was nurtured and became a guiding force throughout his life.
Mike attended schools within the Detroit Public Schools system, beginning his education at Longfellow Elementary School and continuing at Burns Middle School. He later transitioned to Ford Middle School in Highland Park and went on to attend Highland Park High School, where he completed his GED.
Pursuing his passion for the culinary arts, Mike became a talented and highly respected chef. Alongside his sister, Kim, he co-founded Siblings Catering, LLC, a family-owned business built on love, dedication, and unity.
Mike was deeply loved by all who knew him. He had a great passion for music—especially Parliament Funkadelic—and enjoyed collecting figurines and Invicta watches. Above all, he cherished his family and took immense pride in being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle.
Mike met and married his beloved wife, Barbara Ann, and together they shared a deep, abiding love for 43 wonderful years.
He was the beloved husband of Barbara Hatchett; the loving father of Elizabeth (Gabriel) Mathews and Michael (Lea) Hatchett, Jr.; and the proud grandfather of Bryson, Tanner, Lily, and Emmett.
Michael is survived by his siblings Kim Golida and Ernest “Corey” Hatchett.
Through his sister Kim, he is lovingly remembered by her children—his nieces—Donna, Jennifer, and Jasmine.
Through his brother Corey, he is survived by his nieces and nephews—Kiera, Domonique, Anthony, and Eric.
He is also survived by many cousins, extended family members, and a host of friends who loved him dearly.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Jemina “Freda” Hatchett, and his siblings, Freddy Hatchett and Barbara Hatchett.
On December 19, 2025, Michael was called home to be with the Lord. He will forever be remembered for his strong faith, generous heart, deep love for his family, and the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.
