Melvin Heard, affectionately known as Mel, was born on March 25, 1963, in New York, NY, and passed away on December 25, 2024. He spent his final years in the Bronx, where his vibrant spirit and love for life left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

An alumnus of Seward Park High School in New York, Melvin was a loving son, brother, uncle, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his brother Howard, sisters Judy and Eyvette, and his two favorite nephews, Duchone and Torrey Jr., along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Melvin was known for his passion for fashion; he loved to shop and dress to impress. His favorite foods included oxtails served with rice and black beans, and he had a special fondness for old school hip hop and R&B music, which filled his life with rhythm and joy. Melvin enjoyed watching classic cowboy movies and was a devoted football fan.

His greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends. He loved sharing laughter, enjoying good food, and creating memories that would last a lifetime. His intelligence and loving nature made him a pillar in his family's life, and his ability to make others laugh brought happiness to those around him.

Melvin is now reunited with his beloved parents, Marion and James, and his three sisters, Dorothy, Deborah, and Wendy. His legacy will live on through his daughter, Mariah, and granddaughter, Princess, who he adored.
