Melvin Franklin Pearson, affectionately known as Frankie, was born on April 6, 1964, in Georgetown, Kentucky. He passed away on September 20, 2024, in Frankfort, Kentucky, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and love.
A devoted horse trainer, Melvin had a passion for his profession and spent countless hours tending to his beloved horses. He was known for his infectious sense of humor, often making people laugh just when they needed it most. Melvin enjoyed sitting in his chair watching old westerns and had a particular fondness for chili with a dab of grape jelly. His musical taste included the smooth sounds of Snooze by SZA, which he loved to listen to during quiet moments.
In his youth, Melvin was an accomplished athlete, playing football, basketball, and baseball in high school before continuing his basketball career at Florida Memorial University. He was an avid fan of basketball, football, and horse racing, often finding joy at the race track or near the water—his favorite places in the world.
Melvin was a proud father to Lamar Harris, Derek Pearson, Kevin Pearson, and a loving grandfather to Quentin, Ezra Garrett, and Dominique Clay, who were among his proudest accomplishments. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Linda Curry, and is survived by his mother Nancy Pearson, father Melvin Christopher, brother Ralph Pearson, and sister Clara Pearson.
Known for his favorite saying, "I'm going to act right when I'm 65," Melvin embraced life with a light-hearted spirit. His ability to bring joy and laughter, even in challenging times, will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
