Melvin B. Spears, affectionately known as “Little,” was born on November 2, 1962, in Baltimore Maryland, to Minnie Wilson and Melvin Spears. He departed this life on August 7, 2025.

Melvin was raised in both Glen Burnie, MD, and Cherry Hill. He graduated from Southern High School and went on to build a strong work ethic and lasting career. In 1995, he began working at Erachem Comilog, now known as Vibrantz, where he remained a dedicated and valued employee until his passing.

In 1994, Melvin was united in love with Kimberly Jackson, the love of his life. Together, they shared four sons: Melvin (“Rock”), Micheal (“Mikey”), Tavon, and Dayquan (“Day Day”).

Melvin loved life, and he loved people. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cruising in his pride and joy—a classic ’64 Malibu—and making every gathering unforgettable. Known as “the life of the party” and affectionately called “Playa Playa,” Melvin’s energy, humor, and love for others left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Melvin and Vera Spears; mother-in-law, Phyllis Green; uncle, Earl; brother, Adrian; and sister-in-law, Constance Johnson.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Kimberly; father, Melvin (Renee); mother, Minnie; his children, Melvin (Chan’tell), Micheal, Tavon, and Dayquan (Jasmine); siblings, Shandra (Keith), David (Lisa), Denise (Anthony), Emanuel (Whitney), Denee, Tia, and Destiny; aunts, Ruby Wilson, Arlene Speares, Pamela Speares, and Deborah Speares; 14 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will also be deeply missed by his brothers-in-law, Leon, Brian, and Kevin; sisters-in-law, Deborah, Sandra, and Karen; and special cousins, Tyrone Hall Jr., Don Keith Sr., and Natasha Wyche.

Melvin’s spirit, laughter, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
