Mechelle Denise Henry-Jones was born on August 4, 1955, in Bakersfield, California to Isaac and Phynolla Henry. Her parents moved to Oakland, California in 1960, where she attended Fremont High School and graduated in 1973. Mechelle was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt.

Mechelle dedicated her life to her family and cherished every moment she spent with them. She established her successful business, MeMe Imports, 27 years ago, where her passion for gardening and African art flourished. She created scented candles, soaps, incense, herbs and spices. Mechelle had a zest for life, enjoying traveling, gardening, cooking, and dancing to her favorite music. Her artistic soul and love for African art enriched her life and the lives of those around her.

Mechelle's warmth and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her family and friends will remember her not only for her entrepreneurial spirit, but also for the love and joy she brought into our lives.

Mechelle passed away on December 23, 2024 and was preceded in death by her parents; Isaac and Phynolla (Yvonne) Henry; grandparents: Lesley and Rhoda Henry, Jessie and Abbott Washington; brother, Edward Henry and sister, Shannon Henry-Taylor; her uncles: Lesley Henry Jr., Jerome Henry, Gregory Henry, and Cedric Henry; aunt, Patricia Kennedy.

She is survived by her loving husband, Carlton Jones and her cherished son, Jessie Travis Wallace Brown (Pudgie), who will carry on her legacy; uncle, Stanley Henry of Oklahoma; aunts: Cynthia Worthy, Bonita Griggs, Stephanie Henry of California; nephews: Ray Taylor of Tennessee, Edward Henry II of Georgia, Jared Taylor of Georgia; nieces: Dawn Manning "Boomie" of Texas, Trinece Henry of Georgia, Marquita Henry of California, Jessica Taylor of Texas and a host of relatives and friends.
