Max Ray Wozencraft
April 3, 1938 - October 30, 2024
It is with the greatest of sorrows that we announce the passing of Max Ray Wozencraft, who departed this world on October 30, 2024. Born on April 3, 1938 in Olton, Texas, Max was a man of few words but spoke volumes with his incredible impact upon people; living a life marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. His passing leaves a permanent void in our lives that can never be filled.
He was the son of Melvin & Edisy Wozencraft, and was predeceased by his beloved brother, Kent Wozencraft, and his cherished sisters, Jolene Shafer and Nora Lee Robertson.
Max is survived by his cherished sons, Devin Wozencraft and Robert Wozencraft.
Max was a graduate of Olton High School class of 1956. In his 20's he and his brother Kent moved to California to pursue careers in electronics and eventually Max became a part owner in Whittier based electronics company Time & Sound. During this time, he took a liking to the company secretary Armonda Young and eventually married and had one son together, Devin Wozencraft. In later years, Max married Diane Mapes (Wozencraft), who passed away in November of 2023. Max's entrepreneurial drive led him to help run job sites as an electrician for his brother Kent's business, Douglas Electric, and later Max went on to build his own successful electrical contracting business from scratch, Electricraft. Starting the company with no employees, he built Electricraft over the course of 20 years growing it to an establishment of over 100 dedicated staff at one point. This remains one of his most significant career accomplishments and a testament to his resourcefulness and resilience.
A man of simple tastes, Max enjoyed drinking a cold Coors Light daily while spending time with his family and friends. He was an ardent fan of Western television shows and always rooted for the Raiders Football team. His devotion to the Raiders brought smiles to those around him.
Riverside Rancheros was one of Max's favored local spots, where he would regularly be seen helping in the booth, fixing broken electronic camera sensors or helping throughout the Rancheros facility, or even hanging out with friends at the bar. His passion for Barrel Racing & Roping’s was well known within the Rancheros community and a cause he strongly advocated for. Max lived his life according to the virtues of patience and selflessness, always making himself available for anyone who needed help, allowing his actions to speak louder than his words ever could.
A Celebration of Life for Max will be held at Riverside Rancheros on Sunday November 24, 2024, from 11 am – 3 pm. Max was a beacon of kindness and his legacy of generosity will continue to inspire us to live better, love more, and always be there for one another.
Goodbye, Max. You have left an indelible mark on our hearts, and our memories of you will continue to guide us. Rest in peace.
Psalm 23 - A psalm of David:
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation can be given to the “Riverside Rancheros”, a non-profit organization.
