He was the beloved husband of Sandy Ellefson and a devoted father to his children: Chet Ellefson of Aurora, CO; Mandy Irby of Twin Falls, ID; Tera Koupal of Wagner, SD; Katie Michelson of Piedmont, SD; Ryan Ellefson of Sioux Falls, SD; and Serina Lesnar of Port St. Lucie, FL. Max took immense pride in being a grandfather, cherishing every moment spent with his kids and grandkids.

Max was a well-respected owner of a John Deere dealership, a family legacy passed down from his father, Robert. He was known for his quick wit and sense of humor, often bringing laughter into the lives of those around him. His passions included playing pool and riding motorcycles, and his favorite foods were Hawaiian chicken, pistachios, and classic peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Max was a dedicated fan of the Raiders, both in football and television, enjoying shows like Raiders Football and CSI.

A lover of music, Max had a special fondness for The Rolling Stones. He was a caring and loving person, deeply involved in his community, having participated in a mission trip to Haiti. He is survived by his siblings, Glenda Ellefson, Sandy Hanson, Nancy Ellefson, and Andrea Hart, who will carry on his legacy of kindness and humor. Max's vibrant spirit and loving nature will be missed by all who knew him.
