Matthew "Matt" Horton, of Ellijay, died unexpectedly on April 7, 2023. He was only 50 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Matt was born on April 16, 1972, attended Gilmer County Schools, and lived in Ellijay for most of his life. Matt was a truck driver and spent 24 years doing so.  He spent much of his free time working on cars and trucks, showing off his knowledge about guns and spending time with his family. He was a very hard worker and helped everyone he could. Everyone who knew Matt knew how funny and laid back he was. Matt was full of humor, love and lots of wisdom, traits that were obvious to all after even just a single meeting with Matt . Matt is survived by Parents, Elton and Phyllis Horton, Siblings, Stephen Horton and Leeanna (Jon) Davis, Daughters Chloe (Fox) Horton and Lian Gabriel, great friend Donna Horton (Whitehead) and nephews and niece, Tanner, Tyler and Kaiya Davis and an abundance of friends. We will miss him more than words can say. There will not be a service to respect Matt's wishes.
