Matthew Isaiah Flores, known to his loved ones as Matt or Mateo, was born on February 18, 1999, in Abilene, TX. He peacefully passed away on July 14, 2024, in his hometown.
Matt was a charismatic and unapologetically authentic individual who touched the lives of many. He inspired others with his perseverance and determination to better himself, even in the face of adversities. Matt's journey led him to a substance abuse treatment center where he taught a class on self-love, becoming a source of inspiration and guidance for those around him. His respect for others made him highly respected in return.
A lover of knowledge, Matt had a keen interest in psychology and often engaged in self-reflection through journaling. He had big dreams of opening a sobriety home, providing support and assistance to those seeking recovery. Additionally, he aspired to obtain his electrician license and travel with his own business. Matt's ambition knew no bounds, and he was determined to climb mountains to pursue his dreams.
In his free time, Matt showcased his musical talents as a skilled guitarist, playing in various bands throughout his youth. His infectious smile and loving nature made him a joy to be around. He had a dark sense of humor and an affinity for being silly, bringing laughter to those in his presence.
Matt is survived by his loving parents, Jesse and April Barron, Gabriel and Lindsay Flores, his siblings Isabella, Solana, and Eliseo Barron, as well as his grandparents Darrell and Sandra Munselle and Josie Diaz, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his beloved aunt Diane Carrion, grandfather Paul Flores, uncle Gary Munselle and nana Imogene Munselle.
He will be remembered for his intelligence, bravery, and unyielding love for others. Matt's legacy will live on forever, as his story continues to inspire and motivate others to live life to the fullest. May he be remembered for his audacious approach to life and for embracing his authentic self.
While Matt believed in God and Jesus, he embraced spirituality more than religious dogma, understanding that the essence of our beings extends beyond the physical realm.
In honor of Matt's memory, his family kindly requests that his story be shared to inspire others, as he believes that by sharing our own experiences, we can ignite a spark of hope and change in others.
Matt, your impact on this world was profound, and your absence will be deeply felt. Your love, bravery, and determination will forever be cherished. We're all still so proud of you. Rest in peace, our beloved Mateo, until we meet again. We love you forever and always.
We'll plant real trees for you in Matthew's memory and display your contribution forever.
