Mary Louise Rotert, known affectionately as Mary Lou, was born on July 3, 1940, in Carroll, Iowa. She spent her most recent years in Omaha, Nebraska, where she nurtured her family and embraced her many passions.
Mary Lou dedicated her life to raising her eight children: Joyce Wittrock (Dale), Bill Rotert (Candi), Ron Rotert (Jenni), Joe Rotert (Karmen), Joleen Rotert, Frank Rotert (Tiffaney), Patty Rotert, and Susie Rotert (Matt Seuss). In addition to her role as a devoted mother, she served as a secretary and bookkeeper for her husband, Jerry Rotert’s business.
A lover of all things Roy Rogers and Dale Evans, Mary Lou found joy in watching her favorite television shows and cheering on her teams: the Creighton Blue Jays and the Nebraska Huskers. She had a remarkable collection of over 6,000 sets of salt and pepper shakers, showcasing her unique interests and passion for collecting.
Mary Lou's love for nature was evident in her fondness for watching birds, particularly cardinals, which brought her much happiness. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own children, as she also provided care to many other children throughout her life.
A proud member of the Catholic faith, Mary Lou is remembered not only for her accomplishments in raising her family but also for her unwavering love and support for those around her. She is survived by her siblings Rita, Earl, Don, Art, Vern, Bob, and Abbey Rotert, who will continue to cherish her memory.
