Mary loved anything sweet! She especially loved strawberry shakes and Diet Pepsi!
Mary loved to listen to her radio! She would sometimes wake up her neighbors when she would be listening to it so loud in the morning! She liked all kinds of music, but seemed to like good old classic rock and the oldies!
Mary’s favorite animal was her Persian cat “Precious” that she raised from a kitten until it was 14 years old.

Mary Eloise Meyer Schendel, affectionately known as "Lil Mary," was born on September 22, 1945, at a military base in Paris, Texas. She passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, in St. Louis, Missouri, where she spent her later years surrounded by cherished memories and loved ones.
Mary was a beloved figure in her community, known for her caring and generous spirit. She dedicated many years of her life working in a nursing home, where she excelled in housekeeping and laundry. Her hard work and dedication were recognized with twelve consecutive "Employee of the Month" awards, along with a gold star for perfect attendance and another for "Employee of the Year."
A lover of sweets, Mary was particularly fond of strawberry shakes and Diet Pepsi. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, often spending her time watching her favorite game show, Jeopardy, while her radio played classic rock and oldies at a volume that sometimes woke her neighbors. Her vibrant personality shone through her humor, wit, and sass, making her a beloved friend to many.
Mary shared her home and heart with her beloved Persian cat, Precious, whom she raised from a kitten until the cat’s passing at the age of 14. Mary’s kindness extended beyond her immediate circle, as she often offered her support to neighborhood businesses and lent a helping hand to anyone in need, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those around her.
She was married several times, with her last husband, Ralph Schendel, passing away on November 10, 2010. Mary was the daughter of Arthur L. Meyer and Eloise (Martin) Meyer, and was preceded in death by her siblings, Arthur Leo Meyer Jr. and Carol A. Meyer.
Mary was raised Catholic and had a strong love for the Lord, embodying the values of faith and community throughout her life. She will be remembered not only for her many accomplishments but also for the laughter and love she brought to those fortunate enough to know her.
